樺太北西岸のルプロワ（Lupolovo）に対応する。大塚和義は現地調査に基づき、旧称ナニヴォと間宮林蔵のナニヲーをこの集落に結び付ける。

樺太北西岸のルプロワ（Lupolovo）に当たる集落。大塚和義は現地調査から、ルプロワの旧称ナニヴォが林蔵の記したナニヲーだとしている。『蝦夷紀行』は樺太の「極北」と記し、家が五、六軒あると説明する。林蔵は、ここまでの沿岸や対岸の様子から、樺太が島かどうかを検討している。

大塚の現地調査では旧称はナニヴォ。「ヴォ」は村を表す。第一要素「ナニ」が指す生物は確定しておらず、鳥という説明も推測として記録される。
