『蝦夷草紙』の樺太の河川・集落名。川を遡ると大きな池があり、冬は湖面の氷を渡り山を越えてタライカイへ近道するという。夏の水路と冬の陸路を結ぶ地点。
名称の言語的由来は未確認。
