『蝦夷草紙』龍谷大学本でカワクン山と並ぶ山。西蝦夷地の鉱物資源の記事に現れるが、筆者は未到の山域とする。音の似た現在の山名があるが、同じ山かは不明。
名称の言語的由来は未確認。
