『日本書紀』の神功皇后に関する記事から引かれる新羅の城名。『蝦夷島奇観』ではアイヌ語チャシの語源を日本古語の「さし」に結びつけるための例とされるが、この比較は著者の説である。
名称の言語的由来は未確認。
