現在の函館市志海苔町付近に関係する海岸の集落名。『函館市史』は寛文9年（1669）の道筋に現れる「しのり」をこの地域の地名として扱う。

現在の函館市志海苔町付近に当たる海岸の地名。『函館市史』が引く寛文9年（1669）の道筋にも「しのり」が現れる。『北海随筆』の昆布の割書では、うかの産品との比較で品質を評している。
『函館市史』が紹介する『北海道蝦夷語地名解』は、ウカウシラリ（重岩）のシラリを志苔のもととする。アイヌ語由来の説として扱い、宇賀と同じ範囲を指すとは断定しない。
