『蝦夷草紙』の樺太の地域区分。タライカイ・ヲフケシ方面の記事をまとめる呼称として現れる。『蝦夷草紙』の方位認識を含むため、後世の北緯50度線による北樺太の区分に直結させない。
名称の言語的由来は未確認。
