江差

江差（えさし）。渡島半島の日本海岸、現在の北海道江差町に当たる港。「江指」などの表記がある。 アイヌ語由来とされ、岬や昆布に結び付ける語源説があるが、意味は未確定。

江差（えさし）。渡島半島の日本海岸にある港で、本文の「江指」はその歴史的表記。『北海随筆』は鯡・数の子の売買と諸国の廻船が集まる様子を記す。地名はアイヌ語由来とされるが、岬説・昆布説など意味の解釈は未確定。

Ainu

エシャシ／エサシ（esasi）には「岬」「昆布」などの語源説がある。北海道開発局は両説を紹介しているが、江差町によれば意味はまだ分かっていない。
