『北海随筆』の「蝦夷へ落行ける」では、奥羽から逃れた人々の行き先として蝦夷地を指す。近世の蝦夷地は主に北海道以北の地域を表すが、この話の行き先は特定できない。本文は義経伝説や兵具の来歴をめぐる説明として伝えている。
