『蝦夷藪話』が厚岸・めなしなどと並べる蝦夷地の地域名。山道でつながり鉱物資源が多いという伝聞の中に現れる。現代の地名への確実な対応は得られておらず、列挙された隣の名と原本の字形が比定の手掛かりとなる。
