近世の樺太との交易記事に現れるアムール川下流域などの人々の呼称。『蝦夷草紙』では錦・玉・煙管などを樺太や宗谷へ運ぶ交易者として描かれる。時代や史料により指す集団の範囲が異なり、単一の現代民族名へ置き換えることはできない。
