「湯」

sesekkamedium
The recorded セヽ repeats se. Tamura, Kayano and Nakagawa give sesekka for heating or warming, supporting the doubled k in the modern form. Batchelor separately lists a heating verb and a hot-water noun Sesekka, the latter matching 湯; a second extraction of that edition also preserves the noun. Retrieved Mukawa contexts concern heating water, soup and other objects. Those verb uses do not establish a hot-water noun sense in modern usage. sesek wakka is a compositional comparison that adds an unrecorded water word. The historical noun/verb relationship remains qualified.
Tamura 1996 s.v. sesekka「…を熱くする、 …を沸かす、 …を温める。…」; Kayano 1996 s.v. sesekka「温める,熱くする,沸かす,焙る.…」; Batchelor 1938 s.v. Sesek-ka「v.t. To heat.」 and Sesekka「n. Hot water.」, PDF p.443Source passage
