Tamura describes siso as the hearth’s right-hand seat viewed from the upper seat, or the left-hand seat on entering. Kayano also gives 右座, describing the view from 横座 toward the entrance. On page 16, Tamura’s entrance viewpoint permits an explanation of the printed 左座 label; that facsimile does not explicitly state its viewpoint.
