Tamura siru means rub; analysing osiru with o- could explain washing by rubbing, but the complete historical verb remains unconfirmed. Ota labels its derived osiru senses 新, so those proposals cannot validate the older reading. The same historical row supplies フライ as an alternative; Tamura huraye, wash, supports comparison with that separate form. Huraye is not a sound correspondence for ヲシル. The segmentation o siru remains an analytical comparison.
