Komatsu explicitly lists suni for 自在鉤, citing 岡本ユミ語彙 [OY60-121]. His reference key identifies a 1985 report; the underlying report is cited through Komatsu here. This supports the object named 自在鍵 and the form suni, without dating it to the historical manuscript. Su ni is a possible pot/wood analysis whose word boundary is unconfirmed. Ota’s súni is an antelope name, and Batchelor’s Shu-ni is a tree name; neither supports the hearth implement. The independent corpus record nam-kuzuno/2/002#25 also has suni topoci with 炉鉤の召人; the collection labels its recording 1983/1984.
