「津浪山づみ」

ohakopemedium
Batchelor explicitly gives Ohakobe for a tidal wave or tsunami, supporting ohakope with modern p. Hirayama gives the same comparison. The inherited “water crossing a hill” explanation does not independently establish an o-ha-ko-pe etymology. The added 山づみ wording in the current gloss remains visible and is not explained by the dictionary’s simpler 津浪 sense.
Batchelor 1938 s.v. Ohakobe「n. A tidal wave. Syn: Orepumbe.」, PDF p.345; Hirayama 2013 part 3 s.v. オハコベ「① 津浪山ぐみ;② 海嘯、ツナミ (ohakobe)」; inherited Fukasawa comparison in Uehara tableSource passage
