ヤム
Ainu「冷」
yammedium
Batchelor distinguishes Yam cool from its chestnut homonym. Coldness is also present in the retrieved Oda narrative and Kuzuno texts, so the Japanese 冷 is supported. Tamura’s yam chestnut entry and many corpus matches belong to another sense. nam is an independently attested cold-word comparison, including Batchelor’s synonym, but changing the source’s ヤ to ナ is unnecessary.
