ウコバ
Ainu「似た」
ukopamedium
Batchelor explicitly gives Ukoba, resemble, matching 似た and the historical ウコバ. Ukopa uses modern p for the printed b; ukoba is retained as the source spelling. The separate take-by-mistake sense and Ota’s 新 derived senses are unnecessary to this identification. The 1938 citation supports the comparison without proving an eighteenth-century pronunciation.
