Hirayama cites フウレイシヤム in the 1786 蝦夷拾遺, but that earlier witness was not independently inspected here. Modern corpus examples include Russians and white people more broadly. The source’s specific Russian referent is preserved; neither its exact eighteenth-century pronunciation nor an exclusively Russian meaning follows from those later examples.
