Attested forms キモロ

山に対応させて記録した形。kim(山・山手)と or/oro(その所)による場所表現が比較対象になる。末尾ロの母音や語の切れ目を含む分析には不確かさがあり、山を指す単独の名詞とは確定しない。

Lexical interpretation and sources

キモロ「山」kimor, -o

Interpretation confidence: medium

Batchelor Kim-oro means among the mountains, which supports a spatial analysis but does not establish kimor as a mountain noun. Kim oro preserves the recorded final vowel; kim or is another possible segmentation. Neither resolves the difference between an adverbial expression and the Japanese noun 山, so the inherited notation remains unresolved.

Batchelor 1938 s.v. Kim-oro「adv. Among the mountains.」 (p.252)
