「汝」

eanimedium
Eani is securely documented for “you,” while the recorded イアニ leaves its initial vowel qualified. The closer transliteration iani occurs in editions of Sentoku’s 1906 Sakhalin letters. The editors themselves ask whether iani represents eani; those letters therefore supply a comparison rather than proof of a distinct historical phonemic form. Other iani corpus hits are verbs involving carrying or providing things. The modern letter transcription and translation were published in 2001, and do not independently date this manuscript’s pronunciation.
