pena ta、川上側に。pena は川上の方、ta は場所を示す助詞。辞書にもこの組合せがあり、採録者の川上という訳と対応する。川の流れを基準とする相対的な位置で、固定した方位ではない。

Interpretation confidence: medium

Kayano gives penata with the analysis pena ta, the upper direction or part; ta is the locative particle. This supports a phrase for the upstream area in the paired 川上/川下 context.
