「蝦夷地上古の人」

The two small-print columns form one expression, コルボツクルカムイ. Kayano and Yoshimura document korpokkur for people said to live under butterbur leaves. Batchelor instead analyzes Koropok-guru as people dwelling in pits. These are alternative explanations of the name; they do not establish the identity or historical existence of the people described by 蝦夷地上古の人. Hirayama compares the full historical expression, including kamuy. The full korpokkur kamuy phrase has no match in this corpus search, so the reading remains low confidence.
Kayano 1996 s.v. korpokkur「フキの葉の下にいる人:フキの葉の下に暮らしていて時にアイヌを助けてくれるともいう.」; Chiba 2002, Yoshimura Fuyuko #5621; Batchelor 1938 s.v. Koropok-guru「n. The name of such people, Ainu or others, who dwell in pits during the winter months for warmth.
