The recorded kana permit mosir kamuy. Fukasawa cites a complete moshir kamui entry meaning the Matsumae lord, beyond the independently documented components “land” and “god”. The Kubodera citation remains secondhand. Both corpus matches concern the deity of the land; they do not attest a human ruler. 国主 retains its historical political context. The lexical reading is plausible, while the precise political referent remains qualified.
