ニシヤツシヤヲチ
Ainu「大白星」
nisatsawotmedium
Nakagawa directly records nisatsawot as the morning star; Tamura, Batchelor and NINJAL give the longer expression with nociw. A narrative catalogued as recorded in 1969 also uses nisatsawot kamuy. This supports the existing reading of 大白星/ニシヤツシヤヲチ. Tamura analyses sawot as avoiding or escaping dawn; Nojiri reports a different nisat-sa-ot analysis. The identification is firmer than the historical etymology. Final チ is compared with final t; no unwritten nociw is added to the selected form.
