「貧者」

wenkurhigh
Wenkur is directly documented for a poor person and matches the recorded kana. Numerous narrative contexts describe poverty, including lack of food or clothing. Some wen kur examples mean a bad person or carry derogatory force; those contexts are not independent evidence for the economic meaning. The source heading 貧者 selects the poverty sense without implying a precise hereditary or legal rank.
Tamura 1996 s.v. wenkur「貧乏人。…」; NINJAL topical dictionary, 善悪 #19, 人 #71; Hirayama 2013 part 3 s.v. ウエングル「① 貧者;② 貧乏人 (ウェンクル) / ① 悪人;② 〈釧路〉悪人 (ウェンクル)」Source passage

「乏者」

sirunkurmedium
Sirunkur is supported by Batchelor’s whole expression for a poor or unprincipled person and the NINJAL sirun kur “poor person.” A 2025 Tokachi teaching text also uses the joined spelling. The facsimile preserves the small local heading 乏者 for this form. Its broader derogatory meanings require care; the older explanation “one seated at the end” does not establish a fixed social rank. The dictionary-bot copy repeats the NINJAL wording and adds no independent witness.

「主人」

kor kurlow
Kor kur uses modern consonant-final kor and kur, replacing the mechanically expanded korokuru. The components permit “one who possesses,” consistent with Hirayama’s owner comparison. Corpus examples often include an expressed possession, as in cise kor kur “house owner/master.” Other kor kur examples mean a husband or a person having something quite different. These matches do not independently establish the bare phrase as the exact equivalent of 主人, so the source’s vowels and occupational sense remain qualified.
Tamura 1996 s.v. kor「①…

Batchelor lists oipakari sak among equivalents of “young,” providing an explicit comparison for oypakari sak. The facsimile nevertheless shows シマク, not an unambiguous spelling of sak. Replacing マ with ヤ would be conjectural and is not applied to the transcription. The literal alternative oypakari simak also lacks a secure analysis. No queried complete expression has a corpus match; the dictionary comparison is retained as a guess, without asserting that this source is a copying error.

「幼」

Yayerampewtek can describe not understanding or lacking consciousness, and -no can form an adverb. This gives a possible comparison with 幼 through lack of understanding. The shorter yayrampewtek is also attested and is closer to the recorded beginning. The source’s テウノ does not transparently represent either full ending, and neither complete phrase with no has a corpus match. Examples about unconsciousness do not attest a child term. The whole reconstruction therefore remains low confidence.
Tamura 1996 s.v. yayerampewtek「①意識を失う、 意識がない、 人事不省になる。…」, -no「よく…する、 十分に…する、 十分に…である。… / ①(自動詞について副詞をつくる。…」; Batchelor 1938 s.v. Yairampeutek-guru「n. A fool. An ignoramus. 「童子」

Tennep is directly attested for an infant or very young child, with many narrative examples. The source, however, ends in an unmarked ツ-like sign. The correspondence to final p is uncertain, and 童子 is broader than the usual infant sense. The editorial correction records テンネプ while preserving テンネツ as the source form. A related witness has テン子ブ under 赤子, supplying a comparison. The lower confidence here qualifies the lexical identification and the broader 童子 gloss. The literal tennet has no corpus match. The lexical candidate is retained with lower confidence in its fit to this spelling.
Tamura 1996 and Kayano 1996 s.v. tennep「赤子,おしめつきの赤子.」; Batchelor 1938 s.v. Tennep「n. A very young child. / n. A baby. Syn: Teinep. Hachako.」, PDF p.494; NINJAL topical dictionary, 人 #2, #29; Hirayama 2013 part 3 s.v. テン子ツ「① 童子;② 赤子、おしめつきの赤子 (テンネㇷ゚) ト」Source passage

「子供」

poncomedium
Ponco is directly documented for a baby; Chiri specifies a male infant in Samani, while the NINJAL edition gives the more general infant gloss. This supports its relation to 子供, without establishing a particular age or sex intended by this source. Chiri analyzes pon “small” with co “dog,” whereas the older commentary proposes a genital explanation. Those are distinct etymological proposals; the attested baby meaning supports the reading without settling its origin. The single corpus match is the NINJAL dictionary entry.

「子供」

pohigh
Po is directly documented for a son or child and matches this source’s 子供. Nakagawa includes daughters as well as sons. The modern spelling omits the source’s length mark; that normalization does not establish the historical vowel duration. Corpus counts also include po “still more” and song syllables, which do not attest a child noun. Poho is the related possessive form and is separately recorded as ボホ on this line.

「子供」

pohohigh
Poho is the documented possessive form of po “son/child,” matching the source’s final ホ. Narrative examples such as e=poho “your son” confirm that use. Popo is a different expression: Nakagawa records gathering together and an infant-language “older brother,” while corpus matches also include a diminutive-like use and a corrected false start. Kirikae also uses popo for a child in an example; that semantic overlap does not justify changing this source’s h to p. The recorded ボホ is retained, with poho as its normalized interpretation.
Tamura 1996 s.v. -ho「matnepo マッネポ [概]娘;matnepo マッネポ/matnepoho マッネポホ [所]…の娘/彼の娘。」, po「(所は poho ポホ) ①息子。… / なおいっそう。…」; Kayano 1996 s.v. po(ho)「ポ(ホ) 【/poho】〜の息子,子供.」; Nakagawa 1995 s.v. po, popo¹「寄り集まる。…」, popo²「おにいちゃん;幼児語。…」; Batchelor 1938 s.v. 「敵」

toma utarguess
Toma utar separates the clearly recorded ウタレ element and removes the editorial question mark from the selected spelling; uncertainty is carried by the guess rating. Fukasawa leaves toma unexplained. Both corpus matches of toma utar refer to mats, not enemies. Sitoma “fear” supplies only a semantic comparison: it requires an unwritten initial si, and the modern sitoma utar example concerns people who fear something. Neither comparison establishes the historical enemy expression. Tumi “war” suggests tumi utar as another semantic comparison. A 2017 conflict-context post contains that phrase without a Japanese translation, but two vowels differ from トマ and it does not attest the eighteenth-century reading. Tumi also has a possessed “strength” sense; its bare count is not a count of enemy nouns.
Fukasawa 2016 p.86, トマウタレ; Tamura 1996 s.v. utar「(所は utari(hi) ウタリ(ヒ)) ①人々。…」, toma「(大きい)ござ、 敷物。…」, sitoma「…を恐れる、 …がこわい(「おっかない」)。…」, tumi「戦争、 いくさ。…」; Hirayama 2013 part 3 s.v. トマウタレ「① 敵;②」Source passage

「身方」

Sirun'utar? retains Fukasawa's explicitly unresolved proposal at guess confidence. Utar is documented, but the first element and the written シウ sequence remain unidentified. Nakagawa's derogatory sirun and insulting corpus examples do not support 身方; Fukasawa explicitly rejects that semantic match. Siwrun utar and siurun utar are literal alternatives without stronger evidence. Retaining the earlier proposal does not validate a sirun + utar analysis or an allies/retainers meaning.
Fukasawa 2016 p.77, シウルンウタレ; Tamura 1996 s.v. utar「(所は utari(hi) ウタリ(ヒ)) ①人々。…」; Nakagawa 1995 s.v. sirun「いやしい。…」; Hirayama 2013 part 3 s.v. シウルンウタレ「① 身方(味方—白浜注);②」Source passage

「補佐の人」

The selected spelling follows イヨシカマレ, but its meaning as a supporting person is unverified. Batchelor’s similar Ioshkamare means an argument. Fukasawa marks the analysis for further consideration and only compares iyos “after,” kama “straddle” and a causative ending. That component comparison does not establish a complete verb or a person noun. No compared whole expression occurs in the corpus; the rating falls to guess.

「影法師」

aynukurimedium
Aynukuri is the documented possessed form of aynukur “human shadow,” and accounts for the source’s final リ more fully than aynukur. Chiri explicitly gives the Japanese gloss 影法師. The ノ/nu correspondence and the intended grammatical form remain qualified: kana alone cannot prove a final vowel. The previous aysukur follows Hirayama’s comparison but lacks the clear aynu “human” correspondence. The sole aynukur corpus hit is a 2014 social post; neither it nor the zero aynukuri count dates this form to the manuscript.

「吾 われ」

ku=high
Ku= is the documented first-person singular subject/possessive prefix and fits ク under 吾. The equals sign indicates attachment in modern analysis; it is absent from the manuscript. Kuani and kani are independently listed pronouns on the same line. The report’s token-boundary matcher undercounts an unfinished prefix query such as ku=: ordinary attached forms are illustrated separately by ku=an. Bare ku retrieval also includes bound forms and homonyms, so its count is not a count of independent pronouns.

「吾 われ」

kuanihigh
Kuani is directly attested as “I” and matches the complete recorded クアニ. Tamura describes it as a verse form in Saru, with kani usual in conversation, while noting that kuani is ordinary in many other dialects. That regional description does not make this historical entry a poetic quotation. Corpus examples include modern conversation materials. The older bow-based explanation in the related manuscript is an etymological proposal, not evidence needed to identify the pronoun.

「汝」

i=low
I= is retained cautiously because Tamura and Nakagawa document a respectful second-person object use, alongside inclusive and narrative first-person uses. It is not a general independent singular “you.” E= is the ordinary second-person prefix and remains an alternative if イ represents its vowel historically. The isolated source gloss supplies no syntax or social context to choose securely. Corpus examples of i=kor retained here mean “me,” so they do not verify the respectful second-person analysis. Prefix-query counts are boundary-limited retrieval, not total grammatical occurrences.

「汝」

eanimedium
Eani is securely documented for “you,” while the recorded イアニ leaves its initial vowel qualified. The closer transliteration iani occurs in editions of Sentoku’s 1906 Sakhalin letters. The editors themselves ask whether iani represents eani; those letters therefore supply a comparison rather than proof of a distinct historical phonemic form. Other iani corpus hits are verbs involving carrying or providing things. The modern letter transcription and translation were published in 2001, and do not independently date this manuscript’s pronunciation.

Eani remains a semantic candidate for ヤニ, with an unexplained difference at the beginning. Iani in the 1906 letter edition is a closer comparison, but its editors tentatively relate it to eani. Hampe directly matches ハンベ “father.” Chiri records it in Chikabumi, Ebeotsu, Nayoro and Teshio; Batchelor’s Hambe is an older spelling of the comparison. 「父」

micihigh
Mici directly matches ミチ “father.” Chiri and Nakagawa document regional differences, while Tamura describes ku=mici both for “my father” and as a call to one’s father. The bare source entry does not establish one of those constructions. Michi is an older spelling, including in Bible texts; modern c is used here. The same spelling can have other senses or analyses, so the father interpretation follows the source gloss and lexical evidence rather than an undifferentiated count.

Aca is directly documented for “father” in several dialects, including eastern Shizunai, Urakawa, Samani and Bihoro, and matches アチヤ under 父. Hapo directly matches the source’s mother gloss. Tamura documents both reference and address uses; the isolated entry does not choose between them. Chiri records father or elder-sibling uses in other localities, so the meaning is not identical across all dialects. Habo occurs in older corpus spelling, while modern p is selected. Retained mother contexts support this entry; metaphoric “earth is our mother” examples are not independent descriptions of a family relationship.

Yupi is the documented possessed stem of yup “elder brother” and fits ユービ, including the final vowel. Chiri also records bare third-person and extended kinship uses. 「伯父」

kewsutumedium
The transcription’s final プ is corrected to ツ゚: the marked angular glyph matches ツ゚ on the adjacent sister entry. Fukasawa’s comparative table also reads ケウシユツ゜ and gives kewsutu. This is the documented possessed form of kewsut “uncle,” with kewsutu and kewsutuhu in narrative contexts. Kewsut is a root-form alternative. Regional sources also give older man or father senses, and the specific elder-uncle distinction in 伯父 is not independently established. The manuscript spelling is preserved in the correction record.
Tamura 1996 s.v. kewsut「(所は kewsutu(hu) ケウストゥ(フ)) (親族名称としての)おじ、 伯父/叔父。…」, kewsutu(hu)「(概は kewsut ケウスッ) …のおじ。…」; Chiri, Human II §027(1); Kayano 1996 s.v. kewsut/kewsutu(hu)「ケウスッ/ケウストゥ(フ) 【kew-sut/-sutu(hu)】成人男子:主として男の老人をさす.…」; Fukasawa thesis p.68Source passage

「伯母」

konnarpemedium
Konnarpe is directly documented for an aunt, including a contracted possessive expression related to kor unarpe. The written リ can approximate r before pe; the literal konnaripe has no corpus match. Chiri records aunt usage across several dialects, while Tamura notes that some Saru speakers correct the contraction. Modern Bihoro examples explicitly pair it with kor unarpe. The unmodified term does not by itself establish the elder-aunt distinction of 伯母; Chiri records onne- and pon- distinctions separately.
Tamura 1996 s.v. konnarpe「(早口で言ったために u ウ が落ちた形。…」; Chiri, Human II §028(7–9); Kirikae 2004 s.v. konnarpe; Hirayama 2013 part 3 s.v. コンナリペ「① 伯母;② 〈人間〉伯叔母(konnarpe)」Source passage

「姉」

sahigh
Sa is directly attested for “elder sister” and accounts for シヤー without adding the unwritten po of the earlier sapo interpretation. Hirayama also compares サ at this exact heading. Sapo is a related affectionate form, and saha is a possessed form. The source length mark is omitted in the selected modern spelling without a claim about its historical duration. Corpus sa includes other words and speaker labels; the retained a=sa context supplies the relevant sister use.
Tamura 1996 s.v. sa「①前の方(山手の方向に対して)海手の方向、 (家の中で、 奥の方に対して)いろりの方向。… / (所は sákehe サケヘ) ①神謡の折り返し(リフレイン)。… / (所は sáha サハ) 姉。…」, sapo「姉、 ねえさん、 年上の女きょうだいまたは女のいとこ、 あまり年の違わない女性の年長者。…」; Kayano 1996 s.v. sa/sa(ha)「サ/サ(ハ) 【sa/sa(ha)】姉.…」; Nakagawa 1995 s.v. sa; Chiri, Human II §025(1); Hirayama 2013 part 3 s.v. シヤー「① 姉;② 姉(サ)」Source passage

「妹」

turesimedium
Turesi is a documented sister form and gives a direct reading to the final シ of ツ゚レシ. Tures remains possible because historical kana can supply a vowel after final s; the source alone does not establish the morphological choice. The marked ツ゚ supports tu. Dictionaries distinguish the usual brother-to-younger-sister relation and literary extensions to a lover or wife, with some exceptions. Narrative examples must therefore be interpreted in context rather than all counted as literal younger sisters.
Tamura 1996 s.v. tures「(所は turesi(hi) トゥレシ(ヒ))[雅][古] ①妹(兄から見た妹)。…」, turesi「妹(兄から見た妹)(「…の妹」は kor turesi コッ トレシ)。…」, turesi(hi)「(概は tures トゥレㇱ)…の(兄に対する)妹。…」; Nakagawa 1995 s.v. turesi「(物語の中で)(兄から見た)妹。…」; Kayano 1996 s.v. tures/turesi(hi)「トゥレㇱ/トゥレシ(ヒ) 【tures/turesi(hi)】(男,兄から見た)妹〔雅〕.」; Chiri, Human II §026(1), §037(22)Source passage

「妹」

Ku=turespo analyzes the complete クツレシポ as “my dear younger sister,” using the documented prefix ku= and sister form turespo. Batchelor explicitly gives both younger sister and dear sister. The corpus has turespo in a narrative and a dictionary, plus a dependent bot copy; no exact ku=turespo occurs. Turesipo is also found, sometimes for a betrothed woman, and remains a comparison for the syllable sequence. The compound’s meaning is supported compositionally, with its exact form and intended relationship still qualified.
Tamura 1996 s.v. ku=「(自動詞・他動詞・デアル動詞 ne ネ・名詞・一部の副詞に接頭する。…」; Batchelor 1938 s.v. Tureshpo「n. A younger sister. Dear sister.」, PDF p.515; NINJAL topical dictionary, 家族 #27; Chiri, Human II §026(1)Source passage

「孫」

Mippo retains the established lexical identification ‘grandchild’, supported by Tamura, Chiri and Hirayama's comparison for this historical heading. The source's initial シ and final ホ remain unresolved, so the exact historical form is qualified. Mippoho, mitpo and mitpoho are documented comparisons. Batchelor's Shutpo supports a different initial consonant but does not attest sitpoho or sutpoho. Adding ho to those forms by analogy supplies no independent lexical evidence. The literal sitpo corpus hit concerns treating a hide and is unrelated to grandchildren.
Batchelor 1938 s.v. Shutpo「n. A grandson. Syn: Mitpo.」, PDF p.482; Tamura 1996 s.v. mippo「孫。…」, mippoho「(概は mippo ミッポ)…の孫。…」, mitpo「孫。…」, mitpoho「(概は mitpo ミッポ) … の孫。…」; Chiri, Human II §017(1–2); Hirayama 2013 part 3 s.v. シツポホ「① 孫;② 孫 (ミッポ)」Source passage

「孫」

Mitpo is an attested grandchild term and is selected from the previous slash-separated suggestions. The literal micipo remains unverified; Fukasawa explicitly calls it an unattested reconstruction from ミチボ. The チ/t correspondence therefore keeps confidence low even though the meaning fits. Mippo is an attested assimilated variant; Chiri also documents a distinct Sakhalin mici “grandchild,” which does not establish micipo or the older “father’s seed” etymology. The source text is unchanged.

okkaypohomedium
The two small-print columns form one recorded alternative. Batchelor gives the complete Okkai-poho for a male child or son. Okkaypoho retains the final ホ. Tamura distinguishes okkaypo, a young man, from okkayopo, a son. The historical entry gives no syntax to settle possession or the precise relationship among these forms. The exact modern-spelling corpus match is a 2020 Upopoy exhibit text. Old-spelling okkai poho also occurs in Bible material catalogued as 1897; three aligned passages support the male-child or son sense. These later witnesses do not independently date the reading to 1792.
